Therapeutic Approaches

  • EMDR is a type of therapy that helps you process and heal from difficult or traumatic experiences. It uses a series of guided eye movements to help your brain reprocess painful memories, reducing their emotional impact. This can help you feel less overwhelmed by your past and more present in your life. It's a way to help your mind and body move forward from trauma, allowing for a new perspective and lasting relief.

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a form of talk therapy that helps individuals identify and challenge negative thought patterns and beliefs. By examining the link between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, CBT equips people with practical skills to change unhelpful reactions and improve their emotional well-being.

  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a type of cognitive behavioral therapy that focuses on teaching people skills to manage intense emotions, reduce self-destructive behaviors, and improve their relationships. It combines standard cognitive-behavioral techniques with concepts of mindfulness and acceptance, helping individuals find a balance between change and self-acceptance.

  • Trauma-focused therapy is a specialized form of psychotherapy designed to help people process and recover from the emotional and psychological effects of a traumatic experience. This type of therapy aims to help individuals understand how the trauma has impacted their well-being and develop healthy coping mechanisms to manage their symptoms.

  • Unique challenges and stressors faced by individuals who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, or other diverse gender and sexual identities.

    • Schizophrenia is a chronic brain disorder that affects how a person thinks, feels, and behaves. People with schizophrenia experience psychosis, which can include frightening beliefs and seeing or hearing things that aren't there, as well as disorganized thoughts and speech.

    • Schizoaffective Disorder is a mental health condition that combines symptoms of schizophrenia (like delusions and hallucinations) with symptoms of a major mood disorder, such as bipolar disorder or major depressive disorder.

  • A neurodevelopmental disorder is a condition that affects the development of the brain and nervous system, impacting a person's emotions, learning ability, self-control, and memory. They typically appear early in childhood and can last throughout a person's life.

  • A mental health condition that causes extreme mood swings, including emotional highs (mania or hypomania) and lows (depression).

  • A persistent feeling of sadness and loss of interest that can lead to a variety of emotional and physical problems and affect how a person thinks, feels, and acts.
